We serve as a strategic partner in risk reduction, life protection, and operational optimization for organizations and communities dependent on or impacted by climate. **Our Values:** * Effective solutions * Collaboration and commitment * Respect for people * Innovation and continuous improvement * Ethics **As part of the Services and Operations team, your role will include:** * Working 20 hours per week at the headquarters of the Santa Catarina State Secretariat for Civil Protection and Defense (SDC/SC) as a Senior Operational Hydrologist; * Communicating with SDC and other involved institutions during flood and drought events; * Performing technical and operational activities related to critical hydrological events; * Monitoring observational data (rainfall, water level, flow rate, hydrological and hydrodynamic models); * Analyzing, interpreting, and consolidating hydrological and hydrodynamic forecast scenarios; * Preparing daily bulletins, technical notes, hydrological advisories, and alerts; * Participating in integrated operational workflows with meteorologists, geologists, cartographers, and regional teams; * Performing on-call duties when required. **Prerequisites for this role:** * Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, or Water Resources Engineering—or related fields—with specialization, master’s, or doctoral studies in Water Resources; * Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hydrology and related areas; * Active registration with the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy (CREA). **Desirable qualifications:** * Experience in operation, calibration, and validation of hydrological and hydrodynamic models (e.g., HEC-HMS, MGB, HEC-RAS); * Practical experience interpreting hydrometeorological data, telemetry, radar products, and meteorological models (e.g., GFS, ECMWF, WRF); * Knowledge of dam hydraulics fundamentals and water balance; * Experience with GIS and geoprocessing applied to hydrology; * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel; * Familiarity with programming or applications in Python or R for supplementary analyses; * Experience in real-time monitoring environments, such as Situation Rooms or CIGERD.
