Join us to be part of a team that celebrates differences!*** We are seeking a **Mechanic – Area of Operation: Forest Maintenance Center, Forest Harvesting, Silviculture, Wood Yard, and Machining Center** to join the **Forest Equipment Maintenance Coordination** team. This person will be responsible for performing maintenance interventions on forest machines and equipment, ensuring optimal equipment performance, contributing ideas and suggestions aimed at process optimization and improvement. When necessary, they will perform lubrication tasks on machines and implements to ensure continuous production. **Position: Mechanic** **Area of Operation: Forest Maintenance Center, Forest Harvesting, Silviculture, Wood Yard, and Machining Center** **Responsibilities and Duties** * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities on forest machines, implements, and equipment, in accordance with technical recommendations provided by the Maintenance Engineering department; * Perform welding and boiler-making services, as well as assembly and repair of metal structures related to forest machine and equipment maintenance, using equipment such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), TIG, MIG/MAG, oxy-fuel cutting, angle grinders, among others; * Conduct shift handover with the next shift’s team and communicate relevant information to the area manager; * Operate cranes mounted on truck-mounted cranes for load lifting; * Perform hydraulic, electrical, and electronic diagnostics by interpreting fault codes and technical schematics found in manuals to ensure accurate and timely equipment intervention; * Adjust and calibrate hydraulic systems and onboard computers using access codes and specialized knowledge to improve equipment performance and operational availability; * Operate light, medium (pickup trucks), and heavy vehicles (rigid-chassis trucks—tankers, truck-mounted cranes), complying with all traffic regulations and ANTT standards (where applicable) to support optimal operational logistics; * Accurately record maintenance activities—including mechanical downtime codes, equipment serviced, parts installed, and consumables used—using company-provided systems and specific forms to ensure proper resource allocation and generation of performance indicators; * Direct field teams in carrying out assigned tasks during the work shift; * Collect shift documentation and place it in pre-designated locations; * Use tools and machinery appropriately, following technical recommendations, to preserve available resources; * Promote workplace safety culture by applying safety tools and information to foster a safer and healthier environment for all employees and partners; * Demonstrate conduct aligned with Veracel’s values, fully adhering to the Code of Conduct, valuing diversity, and upholding environmental and social responsibility; **Requirements and Qualifications** **What We Expect From You:** * Completed high school education; * Proven experience in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic maintenance of heavy machinery, such as: Harvester, Forwarder, Self-Propelled Machines, Kalmar, Liebherr, among others; * Proficiency in using electronic devices (tablets, smartphones, etc.); * Familiarity with service order documentation; * Proactivity, dynamism, and teamwork orientation; * Class C driver’s license; **Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have):** * Certification in truck-mounted crane operation; * Welder certification; * Proven experience in welding, boiler-making, and assembly of metal components; * Proficiency in welding techniques (MIG/MAG, TIG, shielded metal arc welding); * For the Machining Center: A highly skilled professional in welding and boiler-making is mandatory, with experience in assembly and repair of metal structures. Proficiency in TIG welding techniques is required. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, ensuring precision and quality in work.
