The General Services professional performs routine cleaning tasks in buildings, offices, factories, schools, hospitals, residences, and other locations—dusting, sweeping, washing, or waxing areas, furniture, utensils, and facilities to maintain hygiene conditions and preserve them. * Dusts furniture, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and equipment by dusting or cleaning them with vacuum cleaners, cloths, or appropriate brooms to preserve their good appearance; cleans stairs, floors, walkways, and carpets by sweeping, washing, or waxing them and using vacuum cleaners to remove dust and debris; * Cleans utensils such as ashtrays and decorative items using cloths or sponges soaked in water and soap or another suitable method to maintain the good appearance of the areas; tidies up bathrooms and restrooms by cleaning them with water and soap, detergents, and disinfectants and restocking toilet paper, towels, and soaps to keep them in usable condition; * Collects waste from collection points, gathering it into bins to deposit it in trash receptacles or incinerators. * May assist in moving or rearranging furniture or utensils. * May deliver letters and packages to building occupants. * Workers responsible for façade cleaning using sandblasting or steam jets are classified under base group 5-59, civil construction workers and similar workers not classified elsewhere.
