The industrial lubrication technician is a technical professional focused on planning and executing machine lubrication, applying oils and greases to reduce friction, prevent wear, and ensure uninterrupted equipment operation. They perform predictive inspections, monitor fluid levels, and collect samples for laboratory analysis, directly contributing to operational efficiency. **Key Activities and Responsibilities:** * **Technical Lubrication:** Apply lubricants (greases/oils) to machines and equipment according to technical specifications, maintenance plans, or lubrication routes. * **Inspection and Monitoring:** Conduct preventive inspections to identify anomalies such as leaks, overheating, abnormal noises, or lubricant contamination. * **Inventory Management and Application:** Check fluid levels, top up oil, replace lubricants, clean mechanical components, and ensure correct usage of consumables. * **Technical Recordkeeping:** Update maintenance reports, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and complete verification check\-lists. * **Sample Collection:** Extract oil samples for laboratory analysis to monitor machine health. * **Safety and Organization:** Comply with safety regulations (PPE), manage hazardous waste, and maintain a clean and organized workplace. **Typical Profile and Requirements:** * **Education:** Completed high school; technical courses in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or Industrial Lubrication are advantageous. * **Experience:** Prior experience in maintenance or lubrication roles is generally required. * **Knowledge:** Familiarity with lubricant types (viscosity, compatibility), tools (grease guns, oil cans), and the operation of bearings/gearboxes. * **Skills:** Attention to detail, organizational ability, proactivity, and capacity to adhere strictly to safety protocols. This position is critical to asset management, as proper lubrication reduces maintenance costs and prevents unplanned downtime.
