Our motto is simple: **Be creative, take ownership, and play as a team.** **Overall role objective** The MidSize team aims to accelerate the evolution of our e-commerce purchase flows for a large volume of international customers. Working within a shared repository hosted on **Render**, you will have full responsibility for backend architecture and system stability. A key part of your mission will be designing a highly flexible, multi-tenant architecture and leading the large-scale migration of our core purchase flows from **Ruby on Rails** to emerging technologies such as **Encore and Next.js**. **Key responsibilities** * **Architect complex features:** Take End-to-End ownership of designing, implementing, and launching strategic features for our multi-tenant platform. * **Lead technological migrations:** Strategically drive the architectural transition from the legacy stack (**Ruby on Rails / React**) to **Encore and Next.js**, ensuring zero downtime. * **Build dynamic configurations:** Develop flexible purchase flows that can be enabled or disabled per customer while maintaining a single, clean, and scalable codebase. * **Integrate and monitor:** Architect robust integrations with third-party APIs (IMS) and proactively safeguard platform stability through advanced monitoring and automated **E2E** testing. * **Mentor the team:** Serve as a technical reference, actively contributing to the growth of mid-level and junior engineers via pair programming and code reviews. **Who we’re looking for** We seek a highly autonomous individual with strong technical leadership capabilities who shares our values and focuses on delivering real impact for our MidSize customers. * **Absolute owner:** Takes End-to-End responsibility for complex features—from architectural design through production deployment and performance monitoring. * **Technical reference:** Enjoys working in complex, constantly evolving environments and elevates the team’s technical level. * **Data-driven innovator:** Doesn’t follow trends blindly—makes technical decisions based on data, research, and proof-of-concepts. * **Impact-focused:** Believes that impact combined with effort fosters genuine commitment. Continuously seeks to add value, drive change, and deliver measurable results. **Requirements, skills, and knowledge** * **5+ years** of backend engineering experience building and scaling complex web applications. * **Proficiency in Ruby on Rails:** Solid, deep experience with RoR (performance optimization, clean code). * **Modern stack:** Strong familiarity with **JavaScript, TypeScript, and React**. * **Ready for migration:** Technical aptitude and interest in mastering modern tools like **Encore and Next.js**. * **Databases & Cloud:** Advanced experience with **PostgreSQL** and cloud deployments (experience with **Render** is desirable). * **Software quality:** Practical experience creating and maintaining automated **E2E** tests across multiple environments. * **Bonus:** Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude) and multi-tenant architectures. **Additional information** * **Location:** Remote (Brazil) ***Benefits and details*** * *Remote work from Brazil (preferably São Paulo).
