Check below for more details about the **Hardware Lead** role. **Responsibilities and Duties** ----------------------------------- **You will:** * Lead the hardware development team, ensuring creation of high-performance and reliable products; * Define hardware scalability strategies, ensuring efficient and optimized production for global operations; * Collaborate closely with innovation and software teams to ensure effective integration between hardware and systems; * Develop and validate prototypes, conducting necessary tests and certifications; * Establish partnerships with suppliers and manufacturers to enable large-scale production, including contract negotiation and assurance of component quality and timely delivery; * Monitor industry technological trends and innovations to ensure product competitiveness; * Implement best practices for Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Excellence (DfX), ensuring product quality and reliability according to relevant standards and regulations; * Continuously explore and evaluate emerging hardware technologies and methodologies relevant to agriculture — such as advanced sensors, IoT, and agricultural systems; * Lead R&D efforts for new hardware concepts and prototypes that improve performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness; * Oversee the entire hardware development lifecycle — from conception through production and continuous improvement — ensuring adherence to engineering best practices and quality standards; Document and Communicate Progress: Provide regular updates and reports on hardware development progress to senior management and other stakeholders, and document processes and outcomes. * **Requirements and Qualifications** ------------------------------ **You must have:** * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields; postgraduate studies or specialization preferred; * Experience developing IoT, connectivity, networking, firmware, and other embedded hardware systems; * Experience in hardware production planning and product quality assurance; * Understanding of agricultural principles, irrigation management, and sector-specific technologies (AgTech), including sensors, control systems, and wireless communication; * Aptitude for teamwork and strong interpersonal communication skills. **Preferred qualifications:** * Professional experience in the agro-industrial sector, with special focus on irrigation and water management technologies; * Practical experience in hardware manufacturing processes for large-scale production, ensuring efficiency and quality; * In-depth knowledge of connectivity technologies such as LoRa, NB-IoT, and other remote communication solutions for hardware devices; * Knowledge of IoT, remote sensing, geospatial data analysis, and machine learning applied to precision agriculture and irrigation management; * Familiarity with the Portuguese/European AgTech market: awareness of the agricultural landscape, regulations, and specific challenges of the Portuguese and/or European markets in the context of agricultural technology. **Additional Information** -------------------------- **You will receive:** * Health insurance; * Life insurance; * Compensation in euros (€), for a position affiliated with iCrop Portugal but operating in Brazil.
