***Vale Verde Mining is Alagoas’ first base metals company, operating an open-pit mine for copper concentrate processing. Acquired by the Chinese group Baiyin Nonferrous, MVV — as it is commonly known — is located in the city of Craíbas, bordering Arapiraca, one of the state’s main urban centers.***
***Copper mineral exploration in the region began in the mid-1980s. Since then, drilling campaigns, metallurgical tests, and environmental and engineering studies have confirmed the feasibility of establishing a mining operation in the Alagoan Agreste region.***
***Safely and responsibly, MVV aims to combine industrial advancement — supporting the ongoing Energy Revolution — with sustainability. The site features a Legal Reserve comprising over 770 football fields of preserved Caatinga biome vegetation, native exclusively to Brazil, and carries out ongoing Environmental Education activities.***
***Generating over 1,000 direct jobs, the Serrote Mine holds an Operating License (LO) issued by the Alagoas Institute of Environment (IMA/AL), currently in effect.***
