We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, intellectually curious, and entrepreneurial **AI Engineer / Data Scientist** to join our Health Data Science team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic, startup-style group inside one of the world’s largest human data science companies. The primary focus of this role is to develop innovative Machine Learning (ML) solutions applied to healthcare, utilizing highly complex and large-scale medical data, and deploying solutions in both internal and external environments to deliver patient-level alerts to healthcare professionals worldwide. The role requires close coordination and collaboration with our global Data Science team (based in the UK and India) and consultants in the US.### **A typical day may include:** * Working with the team and clients to define and develop requirements addressing ambitious life sciences questions (e.g., can we predict the diagnosis of a rare disease or the optimal dosing frequency for patients?) and creating solutions to apply predictive analytics methods within project-specific infrastructures. * Fulfilling these requirements by developing and applying ETL processes (for cohort and feature creation from raw data) and Machine Learning methodologies (to build unbiased predictive models). * Collaborating with clients and engineering teams to plan and execute technical transfer of algorithms, ensuring delivery of alerts to healthcare providers. * Communicating technical concepts and analytical results to a diverse set of stakeholders (internal and external). * Proactively identifying opportunities for innovation and workflow improvements. * Researching Machine Learning techniques that could enhance our solutions. ### **Ideal Profile:** * One of the following: + PhD in a technical or scientific field. + Technical/scientific MSc **+** at least two years of experience in a technical/consulting environment involving Machine Learning, preferably in a commercial context. * Knowledge and hands-on experience applying supervised ML methods such as regularized regression, tree-based models (e.g., XGBoost), and Deep Learning techniques. * Strong scientific programming skills (preferably in Python) and software engineering capabilities (OOP, TDD, CI/CD, Docker, MLOps, working with large collaborative codebases), plus a track record of tackling computational challenges related to ML development and deployment. * A strong history of collaboration. This role requires close teamwork with global, cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate enjoys working in small project teams and is able to break down complex technical requirements into tasks distributed across different regions (we have team members in India, Europe, and the US). * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present technical concepts (in writing, in-person meetings, and calls), draft project analyses, effectively and persuasively present ideas to clients/internal stakeholders, and provide regular progress updates. * A proactive, innovative, and pragmatic problem-solving approach—including independent research, critical thinking, knowing when to ask for help and seek input, and finding creative solutions to complex methodological and technical problems. * Outstanding organizational skills, ability to manage complex projects, proactively communicate deadlines and potential delays, and a proven track record of delivering on time. ### **Nice-to-Have:** * Interest in evolving into a team leadership role long-term, including team growth and operational formalization. * Experience in a health data science/informatics team within a healthcare organization, including familiarity with healthcare data, integration with electronic medical records (EMR), and types of environments used for solution development/deployment. * Experience with PySpark / Big Data. * Experience developing proprietary packages/tools. * Knowledge of epidemiology/biostatistics, especially analytical issues related to treatment effectiveness studies, disease progression, adherence, healthcare service utilization, study design, etc. ### **The Team** “Big Data” is transforming how the healthcare industry operates, and more than ever, smarter use of technology, integrated information, and analytics is the key to better patient outcomes.
