Job Summary:
A professional responsible for collecting, triaging, and processing biological samples, while ensuring laboratory biosafety and organization.
Key Highlights:
1. Performs collection and preparation of biological samples.
2. Conducts laboratory testing techniques across various laboratory disciplines.
3. Ensures biosafety and workplace organization.
Comply with the laboratory's code of ethics;
Use PPE and engineering controls as instructed in biosafety training;
Adhere to biosafety regulations.
* Collect biological samples;
* Prepare materials required for external sample collections;
* Perform external biological sample collections;
* Perform triage of biological samples (forward samples from collection rooms and reception to technical departments,
* label samples from external collections, centrifuge, and transfer samples between departments);
* Print work schedules in the Laboratory Information System (LIS);
* Restock materials in collection rooms;
* Perform testing techniques for examinations in Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Washing,
* Parasitology, Clinical Chemistry, and referral of tests to supporting laboratories;
* Monitor timing of serial collections using the clock;
* Restock materials in Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Washing, Parasitology, and Clinical Chemistry departments;
* Record departmental forms according to the Quality Assurance System;
Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of laboratory equipment.
* Ensure personal safety, as well as the safety of clients, visitors, and the environment;
* Perform external services at companies, banks, and post offices (when necessary);
* Maintain cleanliness and order in common laboratory areas, collection rooms, and technical areas.
* Store processed samples;
* Dispose of processed and stored samples;
* Request and control collection, hygiene, and cleaning supplies;
* Perform washing of materials;
* Carry out sterilization of materials;
* Check water levels in water baths;
* Maintain orderly execution of administrative tasks within the department;
* Empty trash bins and clean common laboratory areas when necessary (e.g., in the absence of the designated cleaning staff);
* Keep the department clean and organized;
