Job Summary: An electrical technician is a professional who performs technical activities on low-voltage electrical systems, ensuring the safety and efficiency of installations. Key Highlights: 1. Application of technical standards and electrical safety plans The electrical technician is responsible for performing technical activities related to the installation, maintenance, and evaluation of electrical systems—primarily in low-voltage projects—ensuring safe and efficient operation of installations. Among their main responsibilities are cable sizing, circuit breaker selection, protection systems, and grounding design, ensuring adequacy to project requirements. They are also responsible for installing and maintaining building or industrial automation systems, contributing to process modernization and efficiency. This professional conducts preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, diagnoses faults, and carries out repairs on electrical circuits. They further perform tests and measurements—including insulation resistance, continuity, and short-circuit identification—to ensure installation reliability. Another important function is participating in the startup and monitoring of electrical machines and equipment, ensuring proper operation. The electrical technician must also apply current technical standards, such as those issued by ABNT (NBR 5410 and NBR 14039\), and develop and implement electrical safety plans and risk analyses. Finally, this professional analyzes electrical energy consumption and proposes solutions aimed at optimizing energy efficiency, thereby reducing costs and enhancing system sustainability.
