Job Summary: Supervise operations, perform maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and installations in the ship's machinery section, manage teams, and comply with regulations. Coordination of activities and compliance with safety and QSMS standards Position Summary: **POSITION:** **MACHINERY OPERATOR (MO)** Supervise operations, perform maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and installations in the ship's machinery section; perform or direct, from a shore-based or onboard position, inspection and repair work on the vessel's mechanical equipment upon port arrival; monitor and manage machinery performance and oversee maintenance systems; operate equipment; conduct docking, undocking, and anchoring maneuvers; train and manage crew members of the Machinery Section; coordinate information flow; enforce technical, safety, protection, environmental preservation, and health regulations, standards, and procedures; and supervise and coordinate activities involving confined space work and work at height. **MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES** * Assume technical, economic, disciplinary, and administrative leadership of the Machinery Section. * Ensure preservation, operation, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment, appliances, and accessories in the section. * Comply with orders from the Captain and technical guidance from the shipowner's technical department. * Monitor extraordinary services performed in the section and report to the Captain when necessary. * Organize and assign tasks among Machinery Section crew members. * Manage all vessel maneuvers conducted in the engine room. * Request repairs and supplies, submitting them to the Captain for review and approval. * Coordinate receipt, consumption, and conservation of fuel, lubricants, materials, and fresh water (the latter jointly with the First Officer). * Plan, control, and execute onboard crew repairs and supervise repairs carried out by shore-based workshops. * Report all abnormalities and incidents in the section to the Captain. * Maintain an updated inventory of fixed, portable, and spare parts in the Machinery Section. * Verify and report tank soundings and the condition of machinery, boilers, and auxiliary equipment, especially during handover. * Issue the Daily Engine Room Log during voyages and supervise correct completion of the Engine Room Logbook. * Control access to the engine room and boiler rooms. * Ensure crew members perform only duties related to vessel service. * Monitor water and fuel consumption, ensuring adequate navigability conditions. * Remain onboard during working hours or as required by operational needs, leaving only with the Captain's authorization. * Inform the Captain of any absences of section crew members prior to vessel departure. * Implement pollution prevention and response actions outlined in the relevant plan. * Ensure all activities comply with Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental standards. * Fulfill responsibilities stipulated in the CTS, NORMAM\-13, ISM, ISPS, and MLC\-2006, where applicable.
