Sample Collection Internship

Assist the collection and reception team in identifying, preparing, and collecting biological samples, ensuring the quality of the collected material and providing excellent patient care, under the supervision of experienced professionals. **Requirements:** * Currently enrolled and pursuing a technical education in Clinical Analysis, Clinical Pathology, Nursing Technician, or related fields, or higher education in Biomedicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Nursing, or related areas. * Availability to fulfill the established internship working hours. * Basic computer skills (Office suite). * Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills. * Attention to detail and organizational ability. * Responsibility and proactivity. * Interest in learning and developing within the clinical analysis field. **Desirable:** * Previous experience in a laboratory or customer service setting (even informal). * Knowledge of biosafety regulations. **Behavioral Competencies:** * **Communication:** Ability to express oneself clearly and objectively, both verbally and in writing, and to listen attentively. * **Interpersonal Relationships:** Ability to build and maintain good relationships with patients, colleagues, and supervisors. * **Organization:** Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently and systematically. **Main Responsibilities:** * **Patient Reception and Identification:** o Greet patients in a courteous and attentive manner. o Verify patient identification and required documents for test procedures. o Confirm requested tests and relevant information for sample collection. o Guide patients on proper preparation for each type of test. * **Preparation of Materials and Collection Environment:** o Organize and prepare the collection room with necessary materials and equipment (needles, syringes, tubes, tourniquet, etc.). o Check the validity and integrity of materials used. o Ensure hygiene and organization of the collection environment. o Perform blood collection and receive biological specimens, following standardized procedures. o Correctly label collection tubes and containers with patient and test information. o Ensure patient well-being and comfort during collection. * **Primary Sample Processing:** o Carry out centrifugation and other primary processing steps according to established protocols and instructions. o Ensure proper preservation of samples until transfer to the analysis department. * **Record Keeping and Documentation:** o Assist in recording collection data in computerized systems or spreadsheets. * **Quality Control:** o Identify and report any non-conformities. * **Customer Service:** o Clarify simple patient questions regarding the collection process. o Refer more complex inquiries to responsible professionals. o Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor in all patient interactions. * **Other Activities:** o Assist with other department activities as needed and directed by the supervisor. o Participate in team trainings and meetings. o Ensure compliance with safety and biosafety rules and procedures.
