Founded in 1962, AESC originated from the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo\-Scalabrinian, present in Rio Grande do Sul since 1915, and established here with the purpose of welcoming and caring—particularly—for migrants vulnerable due to socioeconomic and cultural conditions, both in their countries and places of origin. Today, we have over 4,000 collaborators across education, health, and social responsibility. Our social responsibility unit operates in Caxias do Sul city, through the Migrant Assistance Center. Our education units operate in Farroupilha city, Colégio Nossa Senhora de Lourdes in Caxias do Sul, Colégio São Carlos, and in Santa Vitória do Palmar, Colégio São Carlos. Our health units operate in Porto Alegre city, with hospitals and reference services in Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil—Hospital Mãe de Deus, Hospital Santa Ana, and Psychosocial Care Centers—as well as in Capão da Canoa city, Hospital Santa Luzia.
