### **Job Description:**
For the preparation and execution of the Salzburg Festival 2026, we are seeking motivated staff for the make-up department on a temporary basis for July and August 2026 (duration: five to nine weeks):
Make-up Artists (m/f/d)
Full-time – 40 hours per week based on a six-day workweek.
Join our team and support us with your commitment and expertise in staging the Salzburg Festival. The Salzburg Festival is regarded as the world’s most important festival of classical music and performing arts and offers one of the densest programs of contemporary art. Become part of our festival team, which upholds the highest artistic standards, and gain comprehensive insight into theater operations.
*Your main responsibilities include:*
– All artistic and technical tasks related to theatrical make-up;
– Supervision of rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances;
– Creation, application, and adjustment of wigs, hairpieces, etc.;
– Restoration and maintenance of all materials used.
**Requirements**
*You bring the following qualifications:*
– Completed vocational training as a Make-up Artist; additional training as a hairdresser is advantageous;
– Relevant professional experience in theatrical character make-up;
– Creativity, manual dexterity, and fine motor skills;
– Aesthetic sensibility;
– Good English language skills; knowledge of other foreign languages is advantageous;
– Team spirit, resilience under pressure, and reliability;
– Enthusiasm for and interest in cultural and event management;
– Willingness to work overtime, irregular hours including weekends, evenings, and night shifts, as well as a six-day workweek;
– Valid work permit for the Austrian labor market is required.

During July and August, the gross monthly base salary—due to festival operations—is € 4\.718,20, plus overtime compensation. The base salary covers the standard daily working time of 6.40 hours (40 hours per week based on a six-day workweek). External specialists also receive an overnight allowance of € 48.20 if their primary residence is located more than 120 km from Salzburg.
