Job Summary: We are looking for a Ruby on Rails developer to build end-to-end solutions and solve real-world problems, contributing to the architecture of modular components. Key Highlights: 1. Full-stack engineering work to build complete solutions 2. Team focused on evolution and delivery of scalable and elegant solutions 3. Autonomy to make technical decisions and solve problems **Company Description** Husky has already processed over R$ 400 million in export service payments—a market worth R$ 88 billion annually in Brazil alone. But for us, it’s not just about numbers. It’s about hours upon hours of bureaucracy affecting nearly 10 million Brazilians—a number that keeps growing as remote work becomes increasingly popular. We have the capability, skills, and vision to transform the lives of these people. We are an independent, bootstrapped startup—meaning we chose not to raise venture capital. Our decisions prioritize the well-being of our customers and our team. **Job Description** We’re seeking a junior-level Ruby on Rails developer. All engineers on our technical team work as full-stack engineers, building end-to-end solutions to solve real problems. We use Ruby on Rails with a modular component architecture, isolating application domains using Packwerk. Additionally, we use PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, Grape, and Swagger for our APIs. Everything is covered with tests using RSpec. On the front-end, we’re undergoing an exciting transition: we’ll be using ViewComponents, Hotwire (stimulus.js, Turbo, etc.), and Tailwind CSS. **Qualifications** We care far more about what you know and how you think than where you studied or worked. We assess both technical and cultural fit through practical exercises during our selection process. **What We Expect From You** * You’re curious and enjoy understanding what’s happening under the hood. * You possess strong synthesis skills and can clearly communicate a situation to someone outside the context. * You’re not afraid to speak up and routinely contribute in meetings discussing product features. * You read and write in English. **Technically, we’re looking for someone who** * Has 2+ years of experience with an MVC framework, preferably Ruby on Rails. * Has solid knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (SOLID, Design Patterns, Clean Code). * Writes code using TDD (we use RSpec, VCR, shoulda-matchers, etc.). * Manages code versioning: Pull Requests, code reviews, feature branches, etc. **About Your Approach to Software Development** * You’re interested in Software Architecture and Design. You’ve realized the need to go beyond CRUD to build and scale applications. * You understand the importance of TDD and writing tests: your code is thoroughly tested—not only happy paths. You model your implementation based on the tests you write and TDD cycles, producing concise and elegant code. **Additional Information** **What You Get** **Remote First:** 100% remote, now and forever. We don’t have—and don’t want—an office. Work from wherever you like. **Impact:** Our team is small, and we intend to keep it that way. Your work will directly impact our company’s success. **Growth and Learning:** Join an outstanding engineering and product team that strives daily to evolve and deliver scalable, elegant, and user-centric solutions. **Autonomy:** You’ll be responsible for delivering value through your code—making technical decisions, understanding problems, and solving them end-to-end. *We value creative, responsible, and autonomous individuals—which is why we always hire “managers of one.”* **Compensation:** We offer a monthly salary of R$ 5,000.00, initially. **Retreat:** Once a year, we spend a week together somewhere nice to strengthen team bonds. We usually discuss strategic topics at a higher level, and also take time to get to know each other and enjoy ourselves. We’re hoping COVID won’t ruin 2022 :) **Rest and Recovery:** Important—and yes, we genuinely value it. You may take 20 consecutive business days off per year (either as one block of 20 days or two blocks of 10 days), plus an additional 10 business days per year to use whenever you’d like. **Call in Sick:** We need you healthy. If you’re ill or unable to work, simply let us know and take care of yourself. Note that this is separate from your rest and recovery days. **Parental Leave:** You may switch to part-time work starting in the seventh month of pregnancy, and take up to 12 weeks of parental leave upon having or adopting a child, followed by an additional 4 weeks of part-time work to ease your return. You manage all these periods—you decide the order. This policy applies equally to fathers and mothers. **Full Transparency:** Everyone in the company has full access to business metrics and financial information related to the product. Also, because our team is small, everyone has direct access to the company founders.
