If this resonates with you, apply now and join our team.*** **Responsibilities and Duties** ✓ Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to assess patient health status, develop individualized therapeutic plans, and facilitate hospital discharge; ✓ Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on matters related to Speech-Language Pathology services, presenting and discussing solutions to problems and irregularities to support decision-making and continuous improvement of departmental processes; ✓ Support hospitalized patients’ care, contributing to clinical improvement, reduction of complication risks, and readmissions—specifically regarding assessment and intervention for dysphagia, oral language, speech, and oral motor function; ✓ Apply speech-language pathology procedures: perform and instruct exercises, request therapeutic materials, introduce alternative communication methods, apply specialized rehabilitation knowledge in ICU settings, assess and rehabilitate facial mimicry, promote treatment adherence and continuity, counsel on therapeutic measures post-discharge, stimulate salivary and functional swallowing, recommend enteral tube removal in coordination with the multidisciplinary team, assist in tracheostomy tube exchange and weaning alongside the multidisciplinary team, and adapt speaking valves; ✓ Conduct assessment and therapeutic intervention for language disorders: e.g., post-stroke aphasia and voice/speech disorders; ✓ Counsel patients, caregivers, family members, and healthcare professionals on therapeutic approaches; ✓ Provide assistance, as needed, to patients under respiratory isolation (e.g., COVID-19, H3N2, H1N1); ✓ Prepare reports, clinical notes, expert opinions, and referrals; ✓ Assist in generating spreadsheets containing descriptive and quantitative data on patient interventions; ✓ Record all interventions in the patient’s electronic medical record; ✓ Comply with biosafety standards and NR 32 regulations; ✓ Follow institutional protocols and prioritized patient safety protocols; ✓ Maintain responsibility for materials and equipment used in daily work to maximize their service life; ✓ Observe occupational safety requirements, correctly using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all tasks, complying with current legislation and institutional norms; ✓ Support immediate supervisors on matters related to the Speech-Language Pathology field, presenting and discussing solutions to problems and irregularities to support decision-making and continuous improvement of departmental processes; Perform other related duties of equivalent complexity, as requested by the immediate supervisor. **Requirements and Qualifications** 1\- Completed undergraduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology; 2\- Minimum six months of documented professional experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist in hospitals (preferred); 3\- Completion of Multidisciplinary Residency or Specialization in Hospital Speech-Language Pathology or Dysphagia (preferred). **Additional Information** Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM; It has 460 beds, including 80 ICU beds, and 16 operating rooms. HMDCC specializes in urgent and emergency clinical, surgical, and stroke care, with regulated and referral-based admissions coordinated by the Belo Horizonte Municipal Health Secretariat’s Hospital Admission Center. We are also a reference for the SUS-BH network and for Minas Gerais State in high-complexity care across the following specialties: internal medicine, orthopedics, general surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, and urology.
