




Job Summary: Professional responsible for the operation and maintenance of utility systems, including boilers, compressors, industrial refrigeration, and water treatment. Key Highlights: 1. Support maintenance of machines and equipment **Responsibilities and Duties** **YOUR TYPICAL WORKDAY** * Start up the boiler by activating pumps, checking water temperature and pressure levels, opening valves, and igniting burners; * Conduct field readings to verify that machines, equipment, and systems linked to the Utilities department operate within specified parameters (compressors, compressed air, industrial water, raw water \- well, softened water, gas scrubbers); take corrective action in case of deviations. * Operate compressors and compressed air dryers by starting inlet and outlet air pumps in the chiller, controlling temperature using a thermometer, cleaning tubes, removing thermometers with appropriate wrenches, and injecting water jets to remove impurities; * Operate industrial refrigeration units by activating condenser and chilled water pumps, monitoring pressure, and observing chilled water outlet and return temperatures; immediately report any irregularities to the immediate supervisor; * Fill water reservoirs (tanks and cooling towers) by activating suction pumps and monitoring fill levels; * Start up the water softening system by reading the water meter and regulating water flow via the rotameter; * Prepare a solution of sodium hypochlorite and water in the prescribed proportions, add it to the designated reservoir, and correctly open dosing valves; * Perform regeneration of the water softener at each operational cycle by opening and closing depressurization valves on the mixing vessel and resin washing/separation valves; * Perform backwashing of filters by operating valves, activating pumps, and monitoring pressure variations on pressure gauges; * Collect water samples for laboratory analysis conducted by another department; * Receive and inspect potable water, water treatment chemicals, and LPG gas; * Clean utility systems components (heat exchangers, reservoirs, gas scrubbers); * Monitor and support maintenance activities for machines and equipment comprising utility systems. **Requirements and Qualifications** **THE SPARK WE SEEK** Required: * Completed high school education; * Knowledge of water filtration and treatment; cooling towers; compressors/dryers and compressed air. **TO ENHANCE THIS SPARK** Desirable: * Industrial plumber training**;** * Technical course in chemistry or chemical processes; * Active CRQ registration.
