Initially named Auerbach & Werner, the company derived its name from its German-origin owners: engineer Paul Werner and blacksmith Ernst Auerbach. As the company expanded, steel production was incorporated into its operations, leading to a name change to Electro Aço Altona in 1933. Thus emerged Santa Catarina’s first steel foundry and one of Brazil’s earliest. Over the past decade, the company has acquired other enterprises to expand and diversify its production lines, while establishing overseas subsidiaries to strengthen customer support in high-demand commercial regions such as Europe and North America. Altona continuously progresses, consistently identifying the most dynamic sectors of the economy to broaden its reach, develop new markets, and deliver its steel solutions across diverse industries.
