Focus on component reuse and task automation As a **Backend Software Engineer** at Mercado Livre, you will design and scale innovative and secure systems that solve real-world, high-impact problems. You will work in a dynamic environment leveraging cutting-edge technology, engineering best practices, proprietary AI models, and continuous learning — all to democratize e-commerce and financial services across Latin America. Imagine\-yourself leading challenging, dynamic, and innovative projects and being **responsible for:** * Collaborating with the Cloud and Platform team, gaining broad visibility into the development of our internal platform and exposure to cross\-Meli impact projects. * Designing and implementing solutions to address high-volume, resilient systems challenges, with strong emphasis on scalability, productivity, and uptime. Designing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing high-complexity Fury services such as BigQueue, KVS, OS, DS, and Streams — enabling them to serve as foundational infrastructure for all applications across the Meli ecosystem. * Actively participating in the creation of new services arising from UN needs analysis or technological advancements, as well as in organizing, defining, and prioritizing the team’s backlog and roadmap. * Focusing on component reuse, task automation, and developing supporting tools (e.g., CLIs), etc. * Engaging with development teams (e.g., handling support tickets, conducting surveys and talks) to understand their needs and improve developer experience — then fulfilling those needs through service development with strong emphasis on usability and documentation. * Continuously developing skills, training on new technologies, applications, cloud providers, and services that deliver broad benefits to teams. **What we’re looking for in you?** * Backend development experience with languages such as Java, Go, or NodeJS; familiarity with REST APIs, Git, New Relic, Elastic, etc. is desirable. * Experience with cloud-based services is considered a plus. * Knowledge of concurrent programming and high-throughput systems. * Availability to perform deployment, maintenance, or support tasks during nighttime hours. The most critical deployments of our solutions occur between 03:00 and 05:00\.
