Initially named Auerbach \& Werner, combining the names of the German-origin owners: engineer Paul Werner and blacksmith Ernst Auerbach. The company grew and incorporated steel into its production line, changing its name to Electro Aço Altona in 1933. Thus emerged Santa Catarina's first steel foundry and one of Brazil's earliest. Over the past decade, it has acquired other companies to accommodate and expand its production line, as well as established subsidiaries abroad to enhance customer support in regions with higher commercial demand, such as Europe and North America. Altona continuously progresses, consistently identifying the most dynamic sectors of the economy to expand its operations, developing new markets and providing its steel solutions to a wide variety of industries.
