The Legal Technical Assistant will be an essential member of the Communities Observatory, a strategic Defensoria space dedicated to knowledge production, institutional innovation, and strengthening the Defensoria’s public presence in popular territories. #### **Main Responsibilities:** * Conduct collective legal services both at the Defensoria headquarters and in territories and communities; * Draft technical opinions and legal reports on land-related conflicts, evictions, land regularization, and housing policies; * Participate in meetings with public agencies, universities, social movements, and community leaders; * Monitor administrative proceedings and extrajudicial negotiations related to urban and housing rights defense; * Produce recommendations, technical notes, and legal narratives aimed at promoting human rights and institutional advocacy; * Conduct inspections and technical visits to communities and conflict-affected areas; * Support the training and capacity-building of interns, scholarship holders, and technical teams of the Observatory; * Contribute to data collection, diagnostics, and publications on the right to housing and inclusive urbanization. #### **Essential Requirements:** * Law degree; * Proven experience in legal practice addressing urban land conflicts, settlement regularization, or housing/urban policies; * History of engagement in socially vulnerable contexts, preferably with communities, social movements, or human rights organizations; * Proficiency in legislation and legal instruments related to urban and housing policy (e.g., City Statute, Law No. 13\.465/17, REURB, Master Plan, urban instruments, ZEIS); * Ability to produce technical writing and draft legal and institutional reports; * Availability for field visits and external work in communities and metropolitan regions. #### **Desirable Differentiators:** * Master’s degree or specialization in Urban Law, Right to the City, Public Policies, Urban Planning, or related fields; * Experience in collective conflict mediation and inter-institutional dialogue practices; * Experience in applied research or participation in academic groups and social projects focused on housing and urbanism; * Social sensitivity, empathy, and ability to work in interdisciplinary environments; * Public communication skills and ability to engage diverse audiences (communities, managers, social movements, press, universities).
