After completing their doctoral studies in France, pharmacists Carmen and Luiz Donaduzzi returned to Brazil, settling in Recife (PE), seeking opportunities in research within the field of biosciences. They found the country facing serious economic difficulties, and their plans to pursue research gradually faded. It was against this backdrop that they embarked on their entrepreneurial journey. Armed with knowledge and determination, they started modestly—right at home—producing herbal teas and simple solutions, including Sodium Hypochlorite, widely used at the time to sterilize water during cholera outbreaks in Brazil's Northeast region. Despite challenges and limited resources, they remained committed to their purpose. In 1993, during a visit to relatives in Santa Helena, in western Paraná, Luiz Donaduzzi learned about a state-level program called "Bom Emprego" (Good Job), which offered special incentives for entrepreneurs. From that moment, establishing a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility seemed increasingly attainable, leading to the formation of a partnership with his brother Arno Donaduzzi *(in memoriam)* and his brother-in-law Celso Prati. When the first warehouse was built and the first employees hired, a new phase began. The Generic Drugs Law of 1999 opened new opportunities for the pharmaceutical industry in Brazil. Prati\-Donaduzzi’s readiness to identify emerging opportunities and its financial planning aimed at corporate growth enabled the company to take its first steps into this market. Today, the company produces Brazil's most consumed generic medicine¹ and is the largest supplier of medicines to the Brazilian government. With an annual production capacity of 13 billion therapeutic doses, Prati\-Donaduzzi operates state-of-the-art Research, Development and Innovation laboratories and maintains its own logistics system.
