### **JOB DESCRIPTION** A security guard’s responsibilities—whether in a residential complex, company, shopping center, or other setting—are centered on protecting people and property, always within legal boundaries. Below is a clear and concise summary: Main responsibilities of a security guard Protection of people and property Ensure the physical safety of residents, employees, visitors, and the site’s assets. Prevent criminal activities such as theft, robbery, vandalism, or unauthorized entry. Access control Manage the entry and exit of people, vehicles, and goods. Verify identification documents, authorizations, and visitor registrations. Operate access control systems, such as automatic gates, turnstiles, or magnetic cards. Patrols and area inspections Conduct periodic patrols throughout the premises to identify potential anomalies (e.g., open doors, lights left on, unauthorized individuals, etc.). Inspect security equipment, such as fire extinguishers, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems. Monitoring of security systems Monitor CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage. Monitor alarms, motion sensors, electric fences, and other security devices. Emergency prevention and response Respond promptly to emergencies such as fires, floods, accidents, or conflicts. Contact firefighters, police, or emergency services when necessary. Provide first aid, if qualified. Report writing and recordkeeping Document incidents, suspicious situations, or occurrences in the incident logbook or specific reports. Communicate with the security team and supervisors. Ensuring compliance with internal rules and laws Ensure all individuals (residents, visitors, suppliers) abide by the site’s regulations. Always act in accordance with laws and regulations governing the security guard profession.
