Initially named Auerbach \& Werner—combining the names of its German-origin owners: engineer Paul Werner and blacksmith Ernst Auerbach—the company expanded and incorporated steel into its production line, changing its name to Electro Aço Altona in 1933\. Thus emerged Santa Catarina’s first steel foundry and one of Brazil’s earliest. Over the past decade, the company acquired other enterprises to accommodate and expand its production capacity, while establishing overseas subsidiaries to strengthen customer support in high-demand commercial regions such as Europe and North America. Altona continuously progresses, consistently identifying the economy’s most dynamic sectors to broaden its operations, develop new markets, and deliver its steel solutions across diverse industries.
