This combination makes Dyno Nobel a great place to work. **Job Summary:** The **Mining Assistant** is responsible for supporting the blasting process by operating auxiliary equipment, ensuring that activities are carried out as efficiently and safely as possible. **Essential Functions:** **Essential Blasting Functions:** * Transports, distributes, and retrieves materials (cones, collars, cables, etc.) in the blasting area. * Assists with unloading and handling of raw materials, explosives, and accessories, including loading via Factory Truck. * Performs measurement, charging, priming, and loading of blast holes (including pre-split holes). * Verifies connections, lays out cables, and supports electronic detonator programming per certification.\- Operates hole stemming equipment and assists with Factory Truck maneuvers (especially in reverse). **Plant and Transfer Functions:** * Conducts a Risk Assessment Tool (ART) before transfer or unloading activities, and whenever conditions change. * Inspects the condition and documentation of unloading equipment (checklist, winter box inspection, environmental hazards, fatigue, and drowsiness). * Verifies transfer systems and sensors (including calibration validity). * Verifies integration completion and use of PPE by personnel external to the area, restricting access when applicable. * Ensures compliance with procedures and halts operations in case of deviations or substandard conditions. * Controls inventory of raw materials and resources using established forms. * Maintains and stores operational records (forms, checklists, sensor readings) and reports to Supervisor/HSE. (SSMA) * Coordinates access and traffic of trucks and mobile equipment within plant areas (silos, magazines, workshops, etc.). * Coordinates truck positioning for loading, unloading, and recharging of emulsion, additives, and fuel. * Coordinates traffic for fuel recharging, ensuring safe routes and signage. * Maintains order, organization, and cleanliness in work areas and storage locations. * Maintains overall control of the blasting supplies warehouse. **Auxiliary Equipment and General Support:** * When duly authorized, operates auxiliary or light equipment (pickup trucks, front-end loaders, telescopic handlers/manitou), respecting operational limits and weather conditions. * Supports cleaning activities at the plant, office, equipment, and magazine (when applicable). **Safety, Reporting, and Emergencies:** * Complies with all safety procedures and maintains safe working conditions while driving, operating equipment, and/or working in blasting areas. * Promptly reports any failure, action, or condition below standard identified, documenting the report through defined channels. * Has the authority to halt operations in unsafe conditions or procedural deviations. * Supports control and recordkeeping of magazine inventories per applicable legislation. * Executes emergency and spill response procedures, including use of containment kits and communication per protocol. **Requirements:** **Education:** Completed high school. **Experience:** Experience in the explosives industry or related activities. **Additional Requirements:** * Valid driver’s license Class B required; Class D preferred. * License for handling explosives and hazardous chemicals. **What We Offer:** Health insurance Dental insurance Life insurance Meal allowance Transportation allowance **Our Values:** * Zero Harm to All, Everywhere * Value People – Respect, Recognize, and Reward * Think Customer.
