The **machining mechanical turner** is the professional responsible for operating, programming, and adjusting **mechanical lathes** and **machining centers** to produce metal parts and other materials according to technical drawings and specifications. This role requires advanced technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex designs. **Main Responsibilities and Duties** * **Machine Setup and Operation:** * Read and interpret technical drawings, sketches, and designs to understand required dimensions, tolerances, and materials. * Select, install, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces on the machine. * Program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathes or adjust conventional lathes to perform turning, drilling, threading, and boring operations. * **Quality Control:** * Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, goniometers, and dial indicators to verify part dimensions during and after machining. * Ensure produced parts meet required tolerances and specifications. * Perform visual and dimensional inspection of finished parts. * **Maintenance and Safety:** * Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of machines and work areas. * Identify and report mechanical or equipment malfunctions. * Strictly follow safety regulations to prevent accidents, using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection. * **Process Optimization:** * Calculate and adjust cutting parameters (speed, feed, depth of cut) to optimize production time and quality. * Suggest improvements in machining processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste. **Requirements and Competencies** * **Education and Knowledge:** * Completed high school, preferably with technical training in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, Tooling, or related fields (such as those offered by **SENAI**). * Solid knowledge in reading and interpreting technical drawings. * Prior experience operating conventional and/or CNC lathes. * Knowledge of CNC programming (languages such as **G\-code and M\-code**) is an advantage. * **Behavioral Skills:** * Focused and meticulous attention to detail. * Problem-solving ability and logical reasoning. * Proactivity and autonomy in task execution. * Teamwork and good communication skills.
