Comply with and ensure compliance with environmental and safety policies onboard.  Comply with international legislation, flag state requirements, standards, decrees, and contracts.  Responsible for the engine room watch (Watchkeeping Officer). Lead and coordinate activities during watch periods.  Assist the Second Engineer in planning and coordinating daily tasks of the Engine Department, including all technical divisions related to mechanical and onboard maintenance.  Responsible for the safety, maintenance, and operation of systems and equipment screening within their divisions during watch duty.  Delegate appropriate tasks and responsibilities to watch personnel.  Assist the Second Engineer in maintaining the Planned Maintenance System and verifying/maintaining records of spare parts and materials received and consumed for Mechanical and Drilling Technical Divisions.  As instructed by the Chief Engineer: perform a supporting role in the technical operation and maintenance of interconnected project equipment integrated with ship systems.
