**Onshore O&G Data Engineer – Production & Data Interface** A data engineer focused on oil and onshore O&G production, with strong hands-on experience in **production operations** and analytical capabilities to serve as a **bridge between the operational area and Information Technology (IT/Data)**. The core objective of this role is to transform production technical knowledge into **structured information, analyses, and insights**, enabling understanding of bottlenecks, failures, and root causes related to **production stagnation or decline**, thereby supporting strategic decision-making through data and managerial dashboards. This is a strategic position with high impact on operational efficiency and the company’s analytical maturity. **Key Responsibilities** **Operations and Production** Develop deep understanding of **oil and gas production processes**, including wells, surface facilities, artificial lift systems, separation, treatment, and flow assurance. Analyze production data (oil, gas, water), operational losses, and factors affecting recovery factor. Identify operational bottlenecks, recurring failures, and opportunities for production optimization. Support root cause analyses related to failure to increase production, unplanned shutdowns, accelerated decline, or operational inefficiencies. **Interface with IT, Data, and Analytics** Translate operational area needs and questions into **clear, structured data requirements** for the IT team. Collaborate with IT to define which data should be collected, integrated, and processed (e.g., SCADA, historians, production systems, maintenance systems, etc.). Act as the **functional product owner** for operational dashboards, reports, and dashboards. Validate data models, KPIs, and operational metrics. Support development of **analytical and managerial dashboards**, ensuring alignment with operational reality. **Analysis and Insights** Conduct exploratory and interpretive analyses of production data. Support definition of KPIs such as: operational efficiency, production losses, uptime, OPEX per barrel, artificial lift efficiency, among others. Generate actionable insights for managers and executive leadership. Support continuous improvement initiatives, digitalization, and advanced data usage (analytics, predictive analytics, AI). **Technical Requirements** **Education** Bachelor’s degree in **Petroleum Engineering** or **Data Engineering** (mandatory). Postgraduate degree or specialization in Production, Reservoirs, Data Analytics, or related fields (preferred). **Experience** Solid experience in **oil and gas production engineering**. Practical experience working with operational production data. Experience in onshore and/or offshore environments. Prior experience interfacing with IT, automation, data, or digital engineering teams (preferred). **Technical Knowledge** Production systems, artificial lift, and surface facilities. Reading and interpretation of production data and time-series data. Operational KPIs and performance indicators. Familiarity with SCADA, data historians (e.g., AVEVA PI, Ignition, etc.), and production systems (e.g., OpenWells and others). Advanced proficiency in BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or similar). Understanding of data quality, integration, and data governance concepts (advantageous). **Behavioral Competencies** Strong analytical ability and critical thinking. Excellent communication skills, with ability to translate technical language for non-operational stakeholders. Systemic vision and results orientation. Proactivity and intellectual curiosity. Ability to collaborate effectively with IT, operations, and management. Consultative mindset and problem-solving focus. **Differentiators** Experience in **digital transformation** or analytics projects in oil and gas. Knowledge of industrial automation, IIoT, or edge computing. Experience with predictive models applied to production. Experience in low-data-maturity environments, helping build data foundations from scratch. **Expected Role Outcome** Greater clarity on how to present information and indicators, as well as improvement insights or identification of major losses. Reliable dashboards and analyses actively used by management. Improved alignment between Production and IT. Creation of a robust data foundation supporting operational and strategic decision-making. **Position Level** Senior (5 years).
