Description: The supermarket merchandise checker is the professional responsible for ensuring that the entry and exit of goods at the supermarket are carried out correctly, verifying whether received or dispatched items match purchase orders, invoices, and company standards. This role plays an essential part in inventory control and managing the flow of goods, ensuring proper storage and accurate system records.
Responsibilities:
* Verify incoming products delivered by suppliers, comparing received goods with invoices and purchase orders.
* Check whether product quantity and quality are correct, inspecting packaging, expiration dates, and merchandise integrity.
* Immediately report any discrepancies in quantity, damage, or non-conforming items to the supervisor or procurement department.
* Monitor the inflow and outflow of goods in inventory, accurately recording all information in the inventory management system.
* Ensure products are stored under appropriate conditions—according to temperature and safety specifications—to prevent damage or losses.
* Conduct periodic inventory counts and participate in physical stocktakes, assisting in verification to maintain inventory data accuracy.
* Keep inventory organized by categorizing products by type, expiration date, and volume to facilitate access and control.
* Collaborate with warehouse and restocking teams to ensure efficient and safe movement of goods within the store and warehouse.
* Prioritize display and restocking of products with shorter expiration dates.
* Record receipt and verification information for goods, generating daily reports on product movement, damages, and returns.
* Provide periodic reports to management and relevant departments regarding goods flow, highlighting discrepancies or issues identified.
* Verify and organize returns of damaged or non-conforming goods, ensuring proper documentation and correct return to suppliers.
* Monitor the return process, confirming goods are collected within agreed timelines and per supplier agreements.
* Supervise unloading of goods from trucks, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage during the process.
* Coordinate loading and unloading teams, guiding them on proper handling and storage of products.
* Review and organize all documentation related to goods receipt—including invoices, bills, and purchase orders.
* Ensure all invoices match received goods and that information is correctly entered into the system.
* Monitor quality of received goods—especially perishable foods—checking expiration dates, packaging conditions, and other factors affecting product integrity.
* Collaborate with quality assurance and procurement departments to ensure received goods meet company requirements.
* Work jointly with the loss prevention team to ensure goods are properly stored and handled to avoid breakage and waste.
* Monitor and report any irregularities or suspicious behavior that could lead to inventory losses.
* When using the platform ladder, remember to lock the wheels and anchor it to the pallet rack;
* Whenever climbing the platform ladder above 2m to retrieve or store merchandise, wearing a safety harness, helmet, and anchoring to the fall arrest cable is mandatory.
* Exercise caution around freight elevators; pull pallets carefully onto the platform; use closing doors if available; do not exceed the elevator’s specified weight limit;
Technical Requirements:
* Prior experience as a merchandise checker or in similar roles.
* Knowledge of inventory control techniques.

Compensation: R$2.527,80 – R$3.370,89 per month
