June We are seeking a chef for Restaurant Polfareren, our charming small restaurant with 56 seats located in scenic surroundings at the boutique hotel Svalbard Hotell Polfareren. Our restaurant is renowned for serving culinary dishes based on local ingredients and Nordic flavors. We are looking for someone genuinely passionate about good food and local food culture, who will actively help shape the restaurant. With us, you will become part of a social, diverse, and creative team. **Key responsibilities:** Ensure high quality of ingredients Prepare and plate food according to established standards and recipes Maintain proper hygiene routines and ensure compliance with applicable HSE\-requirements Work efficiently under pressure to guarantee fast and accurate service Collaborate closely with the head chef/sous-chef and other chefs to ensure efficient kitchen operations Ensure effective communication and cooperation with waitstaff to deliver a seamless guest experience Participate in menu development and contribute creative input Contribute to effective inventory management Maintain and clean work areas and equipment in accordance with applicable standards **To succeed in this position, you should have the following qualifications:** Minimum 3 years’ experience as a chef in restaurants or the hotel industry A formal chef qualification is an advantage, though relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education Good understanding of ingredients and food trends Experience developing menus based on seasonally available ingredients Solid knowledge of food safety (HACCP) and HSE guidelines for restaurant operations Proficiency in English Class B driver’s license is also desirable **We are looking for someone who:** Is quality-conscious and passionately dedicated to cooking Is structured, independent, yet also a strong team player Thrives in fast-paced environments while remaining calm under pressure Demonstrates commitment and a solution-oriented mindset with a creative approach to cooking Is service-minded, focused on creating exceptional experiences for our guests Positively contributes to the work environment If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, we would love to hear from you.
